Addressing glaring weaknesses in their starting lineup, the Lakers went all out and signed 2 future hall-of-famers, Point Guard Gary Payton and Power Foward Karl Malone. The two old veterans showed their wear and tear as they were unable to help defend our titles against the Detroit Pistons despite one of the greatest shots in Lakers History – the famous 0.4 shot by Derek Fisher.

Sadly, this also marked the end of the Shaquille O’Neal era in Lakers History as the team was disbanded and the rebuilding process began.
