Lakers Coach Mike Brown Hopes LeBron James Wins NBA Title

After being knocked out of the NBA playoffs by the eventual Western Conference champion Oklahoma City Thunder, the Los Angeles Lakers players and coaching staff can only sit at home and watch the outcome between the Thunder and the Miami Heat.

Even though the Lakers would’ve liked to have been the team representing the West, five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant and Lakers coach Mike Brown are rooting for different players for different reasons to come out on top in the NBA Finals.

Kobe will presumably be hoping for longtime teammate Derek Fisher to get his sixth ring and Brown is reportedly pulling for LeBron James to finally get his first NBA title via XX Sports Radio in San Diego with Josh and Charod:

“Now, not at the expense of the Lakers but with us sitting at home, if he gets it then great, you like to see it. If he doesn’t he will keep working hard and I’m sure it will happen someday for him.”

Fisher was asked recently whether or not he’d be bragging to Kobe if he won a sixth title and the consummate professional said he’s not going there. The veteran point guard seems to have a great chance of winning that elusive sixth ring with the Thunder three wins away from achieving their goal.

The Thunder was able to draw first blood in the Finals by taking down the Heat in Game 1 with a brilliant 36-point performance from three-time NBA scoring champion Kevin Durant. In Game 2, the Heat was able to strike back to even the series at one game apiece.

Now the Finals will shift to South Beach for the next three games in which the Thunder must win one in order to stay alive. With one win over the next three games, the Heat will be forced back to Oklahoma City for Game 6 with home court advantage tilting back in the Thunder’s favor.
