Kobe Bryant’s career in the NBA is coming to an end. Kobe may only have two seasons left with the Los Angeles Lakers and the superstar intends to make the most of it while keeping hopes alive for winning a sixth NBA title.

With the odds against him and many doubting his ability to continue playing at a high level, Kobe has all the motivation needed to defy the odds at 36-years-old.

Kobe’s longtime physical therapist, Judy Seto, said the following about the superstar’s motivation later in his career, via Bleacher Report’s Kevin Ding:

“What’s the secret? What’s the inside scoop?” Seto said. “It’s not something fancy. He works at it. He works at it consistently. He works at it religiously.

“Some people work hard because someone’s watching or someone’s pushing. His motivation isn’t someone else. It’s within him. It’s this internal drive that he has.

Heading into his 19th NBA season, Kobe’s biggest challenge could simply be staying healthy over the course of an 82-game season. Although head coach Byron Scott has said that he intends to limit Kobe’s minutes, the team will need to lean heavily on the face of the franchise once again to stay afloat in a highly competitive Western Conference.

The five-time NBA champion will face the toughest test of his career as he tries to fend off Father Time and lead a team that many anticipate being one of the worst in the NBA next season. There will be no shortage of challenges Kobe will have to overcome once the season gets underway next month, but whether his self-motivating tactics hold up, only time will tell.
