Kobe’s Finals Move is Better than Michael’s Finals Move

Written by on 06/15/2009 in News - 8 Comments

Remember all the commercials that were made with this one move by Jordan in the 1991 Finals against our Lakers? Personally, I think it was totally unnecessary, but it got a lot of pub because it’s Michael Jordan and because it was the Finals:

Well, now you have Kobe Bryant pulling a move that was more jaw-dropping than Jordan’s and totally within the flow of the game. How many times do you think this is going to get replayed?

Which one do you think is better? The move, not the player ;)

Kobe’s was harder for sure. No one even contested Jordan’s shot.

Kobe’s was far tougher. Jordan went straight to the basket and there wasn’t a single outstretched arm contesting the shot.
Kobe is coming across the lane and shooting over the Defensive Player of the Year. Seems a fairly simple choice.

Honestly people are going to pick Jordan’s because it’s Jordan and it looked harder
but on the contrary, it actually wasn’t…

Amazing move it was, but uncontested and for a player like Jordan that’s all day in the backyard…
I’m sure he would pick that move over a contested 12 foot jump shot (ok maybe)

but Kobe’s was contested around the defensive player of the year
maybe even better than his spin drop back pass to Gasol for the slam
This move was definitely better because it was harder and it was during a clinching game
clutch and emphatic….. The Closer one upped the player

I remember when Jordan did it and wondered why he just didn’t lay it in. It was a great shot but mainly for show, while Kobe’s was out of necessity, which in my book makes it a better shot. Both were great.
