Kendall Marshall On Nick Young: ‘He Saves Us A Lot Of The Time’

Once the Los Angeles Lakers signed journeyman Nick Young in the off-season, it was uncertain what the Lakers were getting with a player that had bounced around quite a bit over the last three years.

Fortunately, signing Young has paid off with the team’s leading scorer having arguably the best season of his career. Young did average more points per game (17.4) during the 2010-11 NBA season with the Washington Wizards, but has been a key contributor to this team while Kobe Bryant has been out.

Young’s impact on the team has not gone unnoticed by his teammates, with newcomer Kendall Marshall saying that he bailed the team out on more than one occasion this season according to Bill Oram of the OC Register:

With Young leading the Lakers in scoring at 17.1 points per game, the veteran guard will be a legitimate candidate for Sixth Man of the Year. Although there’s still 40 games left to be played this season, Young has cemented himself as a valuable asset for the Lakers and will likely continue to be the team’s go-to guy with Bryant on the shelf.
