The Los Angeles Lakers were not expecting Julius Randle to still be available at number seven during the NBA draft, but when he was, the Lakers did not hesitate to pick him up. Lakers Nation interviewed Randle after his solo pre-draft workout with the Lakers, but that was before he was an official member with the purple and gold.

Now that Randle’s a Laker, we took a couple minutes to get to know him even better. We threw some random rapid fire questions at him, like Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan? And, what about Kobe have people warned him about already? Plus, Randle, who grew up a Lakers fanatic, tells us about his most memorable moment as a fan. It’s all in our exclusive interview above.

Below, check out Julius Randle’s introductory press conference at the Lakers facility on Monday morning. Randle answers a wide variety of questions from the possibility of playing alongside Pau Gasol, giving us the latest on his foot and why he chose the number 30.

    Good presser.

Just curious, why is Randle a year older as compare to the other top pick (except for Embiid)? Anyone?

because he was born first. :)

When are these incoming players going to stop saying that they can’t wait to “pick Kobe’s brain” and “learn from him”, like Kobe is some wise, old sage with a flowing white beard who is gonna be like “it is time for today’s lesson, young padwon.” First of all, Kobe is a Sith Lord. He’s Darth fucking Vader. Sith Lords don’t “teach you”, they corrupt and break you until all that’s left is rage, and then it’s up to you to build something powerful from that mess. If you want to call that “teaching”, be my guest. Note to Julius: silly rook, the only thing of Kobe’s you’re gonna be “picking” is “up his bags”.

Mentality-wise, he got a lot of things to learn from Kobe. You can’t ignore this. But except some little details/advices and maybe a good shooting form that can make Randle’s game better, Randle won’t learn nothing from Kobe about how to develop his game. But when it comes to Gasol and Randle, there are countless things that he’ll learn from Gasol.
