Jodie Meeks (born August 21, 1987) signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in the summer of 2012. Meeks will likely backup Kobe Bryant at the shooting guard position this upcoming season.

Wildcat Career

Meeks played at Kentucky University from 2006 to 2009 before declaring himself for the NBA draft.  In his junior season with the Kentucky Wildcats, Meeks set the school record for most points scored in a game with 54; in that same game he also broke the university’s record for most three-point shots made in a game with 10 threes.

NBA Career

The Milwaukee Bucks drafted Meeks with the 41st overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft. Meek’s NBA career did not take off until he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in February 2010.

Doug Collins, head coach of the 76ers, handed Meeks his first start in the NBA on December 3rd, 2010. Meeks flourished with starter’s minutes, posting 26 points in just his second start; Meeks went on to start 64 of the 74 games he played in during the 2010-2011 NBA season.

In his third season with the Sixers, Meeks wrestled with Evan Turner for the starting shooting guard spot. Nonetheless, Meeks continued to put together a solid year. On March 27, 2012, he scored an NBA career-high 31 points against the Washington Wizards.

Meeks opted to join the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent this past off-season, signing a two-year deal worth $3 million.
