Lakers Vs. Timberwolves Preview: D’angelo Russell And Karl-anthony Towns, Part Ii
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

As this year’s NBA Draft approaches, top potential picks are given the opportunity to meet one another on perhaps the biggest night of their lives. That was certainly the case during last year’s draft when the Minnesota Timberwolves took Karl-Anthony Towns with the top pick, followed by the Los Angeles Lakers selecting D’Angelo Russell with the second pick.

In the past, the first and second picks are naturally intertwined in draft history, but the two young stars’ relationship has seemingly transcended off the court. That was certainly the case in this video posted by Draft Kings of the two posterizing a young fan.

Russell’s commentary is a play on a video posted on YouTube of himself in high school after witnessing Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin throw an alley-oop off the backboard to himself.

While Towns has certainly lived up to the hype of being the top pick in the draft after taking home unanimous NBA Rookie of the Year honors, Russell still has quite a bit to prove. Russell struggled to find his rhythm throughout the year, however, he was able to show flashes of the dynamic playmaker the Lakers believed him to be when they took him.

The Lakers find themselves in familiar territory with yet another second overall pick, while the Timberwolves were given the fifth pick in this year’s draft which is set to take place on June 23rd. Both teams stand to be greatly improved next season with Russell and Towns leading the way for these struggling franchises.
