On Thursday night, the Lakers faced off against the Rockets for the first time since Dwight Howard spurned them for Houston. With about 3.4 seconds left on the clock, the Lakers found themselves down two points with the ball. Jodie Meeks inbounded from the sideline to Steve Blake coming off a double screen from Pau Gasol and Steve Nash. Blake was freed by the screen and caught the ball on the left wing, faced up and let a three fly over the out stretched arms of Howard, who rotated out to Blake just a half-second late.

The three fell and the Lakers got a huge win on the road thanks the the heroics of Blake. Check out the GIF below.

There is a new NBA rule pending that may help Howard’s game. It states, “if you utilize the hack-a-Dwight Strategy, Dwight can shoot free throws from the semi-circle.” Hopefully he will get that ring he’s been crying for.

I’m not so sure that would improve his foul shooting? Strength is not the problem as much as pressure. He would probably feel even more pressure because it’s an even easier shot. Howard’s only shot a a ring at this point sits within his willingness to let Harden (the better player/leader) guide him to it. He was’nt willing to let Kobe(the best player) do it just that. Hopefully he will one day mature enough and respect better players enough to play his role as a defender and get out of the team and better players way.

But since the topic of the post is on Blake’s game winner over Howard…. He may want to ask himself why Blake has more heart than he does?
