Well…that just happened Phoenix.  The Suns were flying high coming into tonight’s match up with the Lakers, 8-1 and atop the Western Conference. The return of Andrew Bynum was expected to bring some type of reinforcements for the Lakers, but did they really need it?  The previous two games without Drew were by far their best of the season, and the team looked to be playing well, even despite missing two of their seven footers.  Although you would assume, adding a force like Bynum to anchor your middle is never a bad thing, and he proved it tonight.  Drew was active and dominant early, racking up an early eight points right along side Kobe Bryant.  The Suns simply did not have the size or defensive game plan (like they even have one) to stop Bynum, he had his way with their post players tonight.  Andrew finished the game with 26 points and 16 rebounds.  In the first half the Lakers were not duped into running and gunning with the quick moving Suns, instead they stuck to their game plan and made the Suns play Lakers basketball.90040824NG029_SUNS_LAKRS

The third quarter is generally crucial for this team, and they did not disappoint coming out of the locker room.  The Lakers quickly turned up the heat once again and pushed the lead well into the twenties, essentially closing the fridge door before the fourth quarter, and regulating the Suns starters to the pine.  Once again Bryant proved that he will not be stopped in the post, his new shot of choice.  No matter who has guarded him this year, no matter how many, he has made quick work of them in the post.  Bryant ended the night with 29 points on a very efficient 13-21 shooting.

To finish off the game the Lakers bench stepped up and made it happen tonight, outscoring the Suns STARTERS 45-42.  Sasha looked sharp from the outside, and even got himself a technical foul for being Kobe’s body guard during an altercation with Jason Richardson. Go Figure! Josh Powell chipped in with 14, and Shannon Brown had 12.  Brown also electrified the crowd with another amazing break away dunk, soaring his head far above the rim!  A new nickname given by Kobe Bryant was tagged on SB12 tonight “Go Go Gadget Calf Muscles” in reference to his absolutely unnatural elevation ability.  If you missed the dunk, fear not…Lakers Nation has you covered…
