Whoopdyfucking doo for Cooper. Hope he enjoys coaching a girl's team that draws flies to Galen Center.
I don`t care for Cooper and his sorry ass comments. With that being said anyone who thinks USC Basketball is on the rise needs to hurry up and pass that shit! I don`t care that the Trojan basketball team beat UGLA, means nothing, nada!

Thanks for the reality check Shalong. SC is a pimple on UCLA's a$$ when it comes to basketball. I think Ben Howland sucks as a coach but if he was at SC and made it to 3 straight Final Fours they would erect a statue of him and the Galen Center would be named the Howland Center. Making it to the Elite Eight would be the sh1t for SC Basketball while losing in the Eliste Eight is a disapppointing season for UCLA fans. As for Cooper it is pretty sad that coaching woman,s basketball is the best he can do for himself. I guess coaching at SC beat sitting down next to Rob Pukeazaki and analyzing games on a show that attracts next to nobody.

what an idiot....

LOS ANGELES -- USC women's basketball coach Michael Cooper apologized Tuesday for saying "[expletive] UCLA" during his postgame news conference Sunday after the Trojans beat the Bruins.

Cooper, the former Los Angeles Lakers star and coach of the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA, is in his first season as the head coach at USC. It was his first meeting with the Bruins.

"My opening statement is [bleep] UCLA," Cooper said to the assembled media after USC's 70-63 win.

He sent his letter of apology to UCLA head coach Nikki Caldwell, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

"I want to offer my sincerest apology to you, your players and your university for the inappropriate comment I made after our game on Sunday," Cooper wrote. "There is no excuse for it, and I realize it is outside the bounds of good sportsmanship.

"As a coach, I know I am a role model to student-athletes and my comment was certainly not a proper example for them. I will work hard to correct that.

"I realize how poorly my remarks reflect on me, my university as well as our conference. For that, I am truly sorry. I have great respect for all our opponents and especially UCLA as our crosstown rival. I wish you and your UCLA team the best of luck this season and look forward to our next game."

USC is 10-6 overall, 4-1 in the Pac-10. UCLA is also 10-6, but 3-2 in conference play. The two teams meet against on Feb. 13 at UCLA.
This will be Mike Brown’s last season as coach. - Nanizm

Kobe occasionally has bad shooting nights. - Nanizm

just change the coach!!! and the team will win a championship this season and next - kenjam89mb

“Anybody who counts us out is challenged,” Bryant said. “They’re mentally challenged. - Kobe Bryant

If kobe's shooting is our biggest concern going into the playoffs, we will be fine!!! he'll snap out of it! - angrykobefan

“It’s definitely going to be fun for me because I just get to catch and shoot.” - Kobe Bryant

-And If you don't think KOBE won't light it up in the GOLD MEDAL game you don't know KOBE. - lordoftherings.

Seriously does anyone give a rat's ass about USC-UCLA women's basketball. A feeble attempt by Mr.Cooper to draw some atttention to program that nobody but a few give a shit about. There is a reason he is coaching women's basketball.

USC 67, UCLA 46
By Scott Wolf on January 16, 2010 7:13 PM

This was UCLA's worst loss to USC in Pauley Pavilion and worst loss to USC since the 1944-45 season, when the Trojans won 53-25.
------------

ha-ha, even with sanctions USC spanked the Powder Blue. with really nothing more than bragging rights to play for Howland's squad got run. UCLA won't be losing in the tourney again this year...they wont be in it.
Enjoy the victory. It meant nothing because they both suck. I hope SC beats them again when they play so maybe Guerrerro will wake up and see how far the program has fallen. UCLA is now as bad in basketball as SC has been most of the last three decades.

in a crosstown rivalry, you want to suck less than your rival. right now UCLA sucks more and thats a good thing. simply because the mighty Bruins have fallen from their ivory white tower back down to the ground with the common masses. no more hype, no more final four losses, no more 'monopoly' in los angeles for baskeball. i know its a transitional period and UCLA will be good again but let me rejoice in their decline. meanwhile, despite sanctions USC has a good squad and it'll be a season of "what ifs" but rule #1 in the college, beat your rival.

Next year from now nobody will remember this season at either school. As I said historically USC basketball is a pimple on UCLA's ass. USC has a mediocre aquad playing a bit over their heads in a conference that sucks this year. UCLA fell from their white ivory tower many years ago. Different schools, different standards. A mediocre UCLA season where they lose in the 2nd round of NCAA's would be a great eason at USC. USC does not really give a shit about their basketball program and never really has. Congrats in 2010 USC rules the city in college basketball. If you want to go ahead and crown their asses go right ahead.

im glad we're in agreement, Ron.  :basketball: this just makes college basketball way more interesting for me than if USC sucked as much as they have in years past. i'm encouraged by the number of pros that were Trojans (yes i know not as many as UCLA but still) Nick Young, Demar Derozan, OJ Mayo (bastard!), Taj Gibson, and even Brian Scalabrine. USC better care about their bball team. the Galen Center isn't just for volleyball.

AT USC basketball will always be second fiddle to football. Unfortunately at UCLA it is is just the opposite. I think Neuheisal is trying to change the culture but it is not going to happen overnight. Tim Floyd tried to change the culture at USC but could not do it without cheating because that is who he is. Oh yeah don't forget about Harold Miner!! I knew Floyd would do reasonably well at USC bit I also knew that he would get them busted by NCAA if he stuck around long enough. There were many reasons that many major programs would not touch Mayo no matter how talented he was.

there was red flags when Mayo contacted Floyd and such a big prospect reaches out to a program. it seemed fishy and now we know why. i gotta tell you though, i thought it was worth the risk. you get a guy like that and other prospects would follow. now of course you got to stay clean and hope you can still draw talent.

I agree when your program is nowhere it is worth the risk. Worked at UNLV for awhile. The first risk was hiring Floyd. He is a known and proven cheater and is not changing his ways. I doubt that he is ever again a head coach at a major Division 1 program ever again.

turns out the bruins are a scrappy bunch.  clearly abdul-hamid is better than jerime anderson but when jerime comes back from injury, you know ben will play him and abdul-hamid will stay on the bench.

Wow. In a sanction season, USC sweeps UCLA in basketball. How far the mighty have fallen. I wish I was a hater so that I could take pleasure in it. Unfortunately, UCLA b ball is a disgrace to all SoCal sports fans. Not just Bruin fans.

it happens to the best of them, just like north carolina this year.  their back court sucks since their their starters, from last year, went pro.  their front court is inexperienced.  but like north carolina, they'll be back.
