Hocky is an awesomely violent sport. Hockey games should then follow suit, no? Today EA Sports announced not only the existence of NHL 10 but the inclusion of a brand new first-person fighting feature.

"A new first-person fighting engine enables players to trade punches with an NHL tough guy. Feel what it’s like to be on the ice in the skates of an NHL player to throw and dodge punches.  Grab and tug an opponent’s jersey to land a punch that ignites the fans and sparks your team to victory. Challenge a skill player and an opposing team tough guy will step in to settle the score"

Packing a new physics engine which allows for kick-passing the puck, instigating the crowd in your favor through fights and player fatigue don't hurt the new experience either. Hocky fans take notice, NHL 10 hits the PS3 and Xbox 360 in September.

This is what the NHL should be trying to avoid and have the game concentrate of the beauty of hockey instead of the thuggery

so their dumbing it down to make money

ive always liked hockey games but not the nhl
the new idea sounds even better im probably gonna buy that game

NHL 09 was i thinkthe top selling video game last year... not just sports game... don't quote me on that but it was definately in the top 3... they are making money.... they screwd 09 up with a rules and penalty increase in feb. So the whole game was played with someone in the penalty box....

BUt the NHL series was said to be the greatest sports series of all time... yeah thats right better than madden
