What will it take for the Lakers to be back among the elite? What trades should be made? What trades can be made? Most importantly will these trades truly make us better?

Apparently Jim Buss isn’t the only one with a man crush on Bynum; there are plenty of Drew supporters here that believe the kid is our future franchise player who has an abundance of potential, limitless value and who happens to be the best thing since slice bread. Since Kobe isn’t going anywhere, whom would you surround Kobe with?

Whom would you trade Bynum for?

If you are one of those that believe Bynum is untouchable…

I ask you what would want back for Gasol?

Will the moves you made will the Lakers be able to compete with the Thunder?

Go LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!

Well, for Gasol; we would need players that are willing to turn a bench much deeper than both OKC and the Spurs combined. Bynum is pretty much our stronger offensive pool and hopefully if he matures into a better center than Howard, might as well keep him.

We are definitely keeping BYNUM. GASOL is the one chip the LAKERS have that could be combined with another player; Likely SESSIONS, to produce a meaningful trade. Since the LAKERS do not  have a strong history of building through the draft it seems likely management will once again focus on a significant trade. The LAKERS are weakest at SF and logically should seek to upgrade with a young athletic SF that can play the 2G position as well. GASOL will certainly fetch such a player. GASOL with SESSIONS or even a solid bench player could interest teams enough to work out a deal for a solid 2G that could also play PG. Once again the LAKERS will be looking for players that can play more than one position with an emphasis on athleticism and good shooting skills.

Houston has a few players that in trade would fill many gaping holes in the LAKERS offense. I am not excited about that possibility but it is a plausible and conservative way to improve the team. If it were my decision to make I would trade for a strong wing player with excellent shooting skills as the highest priority. I would then look to acquire a strong defensive GUARD with above average size and speed. IF there were any change left after I spent my C note I would try to parlay a deal with DALLAS to reacquire LAMAR ODOM. I suppose if we had to we keep JOSH McROBERTS for depth... but I'd rather keep EBANKS and pay for counceling.
