i had to record this last night to show how pathetic this was.  look at their offense.  WTF is that?  kobe dribbles to the wing and everybody clears out.  what kind of offense is that? but that is not why i recorded this.  check out kobe getting back on defense.  he gives up on the play.  he jogs back.  this is your first team all defense for how many years and will probably get it again this year.  and the thing is, that balls goes back to durant who is just a step ahead of kobe.  if kobe ran a little hard, he could have got his hand on the ball..  that is the kind of crap that makes me cringe.  i've been saying for years that kobe doesn't try on defense yet nanizm argues with me every year that he's deserving of his all defense award.

It's disappointing to lose, but realistically, did you expect the Lakers to pull off a win against the quickest and best team (record wise) in the West, off a second game of a back-to-back?  Lakers goes 1-1 in this particularly difficult mini road trip is a good sign.
I wish they had brought the same intensity in these two games for all their other previous road games.  If they did, they'd be at least .500 on the road.

i didn't expect them to win in okc but is that the best offense the lakers can come up with and even worse, is that the kind of effort we want to see.  that wasn't even in the 4th when the game was over.  that was in the first half.

In this particular case, regarding the defense, I think it's understandable with Kobe being 33, running around with heavy legs on a second game of a back-to-back.  Kobe gets criticized more for playing a centerfield, "free safety" type of defense and allows his man to take wide open jumpers.
And as far as the offense goes in this particular play, everybody cleared out so it was one-on-one with the entire left side of the court empty, and....and...Kobe takes a 24-foot jumper, where as he could have easily dribble-drive to the basket and score or get fouled.  This is NOT a knock on Kobe, he is what he is, and you live and die with Kobe being Kobe.  But it does frustrate the hell out of a typical fan, and open up more and more Kobe criticism.

My argument was that because the coaches and GMs vote on that particular award the honor is well deserved. They see up close what a player does on defense and how it affects their game plan. I don’t know what their criteria is but whatever it is it fits Kobe being one of the best defensively at this position. Awards are just a collection of opinions so if a group of people that are closer to the action than we are and work directly with the players that they are evaluating how can WE really question it. That is all I was saying. I wasn’t saying he deserved it based on merit because I really don’t know. You might point out how in certain instances Kobe is bad but have you seen ever other guard at that position in the entire league? I watch more basketball than the common fan and I cant even say that with great certainty. When I do watch the games, I don’t always pay attention to how well a guard is defending a player.

Did you not watch Cleveland when Mike Brown coached them? Its the same offense except they used Lebron. zero creativity on offense, bunch of ISO using mainly Lebron, but great on defense.

Lakers are currently 22nd in teh league in scoring at 93.2 ppg.

Here is Mike Brown's Cleveland team offense numbers, league rank and win totals in the 5 years he was there. All with Lebron.

05-06: 97.6 (15th), 50 wins
06-07: 96.8 (19th), 50 wins
07-08: 96.4 (24th), 45 wins
08-09: 100.3 (13th), 66 wins
09-10: 102.1 (10th), 61 wins

Scoring got better but the team was never proficient offensively. Their staple was always defense. Their offense always lacked imagination. Thats Mike Brown & co.

look at the video again.  he literally says "F it, i'm not gonna run back"...  when he is completely out of the play, then he starts running a little faster to look like he's giving a little effort.  had anyone else on the team done that, that's not a seven footer, they need to be sitting on the bench.

i don't want to hear about his 33 year old legs on a back to back.  he's not tired to keep jacking up shots.  he's not tired to lead the league in scoring.  he's just tired to run back  on defense when he could have easily got a hand on the pass to durant?

Yeah I do see what you see, but considering the Lakers were playing the OKC Jackrabbits and they make everybody look slow, I will give our guy Kobe the benefit of the doubt this time!

The video shows the main difference between Mike Brown's Cleveland Cavaliers and Mike Brown's LA Lakers. Cavs had 2-3 young legs who could run back for transition defense (Varejao, LBJ, Delonte West). LAL no longer have young legs. I've been saying this for a long time now, Mike Brown's coaching doesn't fit LAL's roster.

Offensively, He keeps saying their problem is execution, but if the end of each and every play is Kobe, Gasol, and Bynum having to make a tough shot, it's definitely not just a problem with execution. This current roster is full of veterans and saying they aren't executing the plays correctly is plainly wrong. They will make to correct pass if they see anyone open, but the spacing for this system of offense is so bad, even if a guy does get left open, it's becoming rarer for this Lakers to get an offensive rebound on missed attempts.
