Also, if any of you get a chance check out In the Valley of Elah with Tommy Lee Jones. Great flick. 8 out 10 in my opinion.
Last Friday I watched an extrememly graphic and sad movie called Mysterious Skin. Great story but not for the squemish. If you can't watch Brokeback Mountain don't even try this one. 8 out of 10 just for the story alone.

No Country for Old Men! I fell for the hype on that movie. Its OK! thats it. I hate how they build up the story then all of a sudden Lewylyn or whatever his name is, is dead. The movie could have been a lil longer and they should have shown how everything went down even the drug lords gunfight. I say good not great.

I think I read too much into it but I am still thinking there is more to the story than what I am seeing.

G- have you seen Woody Allen's 'What's Up Tiger Lilly?" I think you'll like it. It's pre-perve/douche Woody era. I'll pay for it if you don;t like it.

No I have not seen it, Paul. I might consider it as long as it is, as you say, "pre-perv" Woody. I will add it to my Netflix queue....

i just saw Street Kings and its not the worst movie ever. its not great but far from the worst. the problem with the movie is that its stuck in reverse. instead of getting better as the movie goes along it gets worse. it seems as though the climax is at the beginning and then the messy plot begins to unravel but so unbelievably that it takes away from what happened throughout the film.
this is surprising considering the story is co-written by James Ellroy who as a crime fiction writer has written great novels and his LA Confidential was turned into a great movie.
the director, David Ayer, likes making dirty cop movies but his Training Day was much, much better.
biggest surprise, Keanu. i actually thought he did an outstanding job. he's older and starting to look like an actor instead of a monotone stiff. in fact the entire cast was great. everything about the film was really good except the most important part and that was the story.

exactly. You can enjoy the movies without having to read the novel. But all I keep hearing from fanboys in response to people who don't like the movie, is to read the novel and then you'll like the movie.
