Leading E-Commerce Business in Southern California seeking Web Designer to work out of Downtown Los Angeles office. The candidate will work and collaborate directly with company members to develop and produce effective digital communications.
The Company is looking for a cutting edge designer who can design within an existing structure as well as develop original designs and provide new innovative recommendations.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Convert static mockups to semantic, cross-browser HTML/CSS/JS templates
• Work alongside developers to implement your code
• Rapidly prototype UIs for user testing
• Maintain library of reusable code
• Be an advocate for standards - driven technology
• Demonstrate experience with HTML5, Javascript, Flash, Photoshop, and Illustrator
• Ecommerce website design/maintenance
• Management of image databases, including optimizing and category assignment
• Ability to offer computer support on a limited basis is a huge plus
Experience:
• BA in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Computer Science and/or Web Design preferred.
• Fluent knowledge of latest HTML/CSS standards and best practices in W3C
• Working knowledge of Javascript/jQuery
• Fluent knowledge of browser differences/limitations
• Graphic art and design for print media such as cards and brochures
• Able to extract necessary assets from Photoshop and Illustrator files
• Experience in a Microsoft .NET environment a plus
• Eye for details is crucial
Requirements:
• Able to handle multiple projects and competing deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Portfolio of previous/current projects
• Experience in a Microsoft .NET environment a plus
Work Case Scenarios:
• What browser/platform configuration breaks your page when you use which technology
• Which technology or elements to use to create the navigation in
• What to do to avoid wrong display on browsers
• How to keep the size of the final document small
• How to convert graphics so that they are small in file size and yet good looking
• How to deal with data coming from the customer in various and sometimes rather exotic formats
• How to keep his/her work from stalling when there is no data coming in that he/she can use.
• How to communicate to colleagues or customers that the amount of final data in the product does not really fit the design (which is a case of bad planning to begin with, but it does happen)
• How to keep up with the rapid web development market and techniques.
The position requires an organized individual who is a self-starter and has the desire to contribute to a growing company while learning and applying emerging design trends and technologies to support our growth. Again, excellent communication skills and a positive attitude are a must.
