The original Halloween 1 and 2. Horror movie that was about building a story, characters, suspense and limiting the gore. Didn’t like the remake.

The Omen. I would say Scanners also but I kind of lump that into the science fiction category.

Gotta go with The Shining. In college, I took a class where we spent a couple weeks dissecting the film. Great stuff.

Original Exorcist for me. Very dated but that movie scared the freaking shit out of me when I was a young one. The first Halloween got me pretty good too. I never liked horror films growing up and my friends used to tease me about it. One day we were all hiking in Chantry Flats and some dude fell 75 feet to his death and when we got to him we found his head had been impaled by a sharp rock. All my buddies were heaving and I was not and was in fact pretty calm. Crazy shit. My friend who thought he was the baddest of the group turned out to be the biggest pussy of all.We are no longer friends but I gave him shit about it for years.

I remember the scene when her head turned all the way around I ran out of the room. I think I was 8 or 9 when I first watched it.

I got really mad at The Shining from way back due to how crazy it went off course from the book, which was rad insofar as books go. If I didn't read it I might have loved the movie. I wish I could remember what all those difference were.
The Exorcist was alright but I feel some good editing would have went a long way with that flick. Like do how many times do I need to watch the entire scene of someone walking up and down the stairs when a good "cut to" would really go a long way.
I love Rosemary's Baby, but I'm sure a ton of people think it's gay. It's still prolly not as gay as the Lifetime Television for Women Halloween horror movies I watched this year but whatever.
Fright Night rocks!
