What defense? If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem. Who did Rondo jump over for that crucial tip-in late in the game when the Celts were struggling to score? If the offense had performed better they would have probably won this game despite the bad defense. Of course had the selts not had so many turnovers they would have won even more easily than they did.

that i can't help you with.  i can see the lakers blowing them out since it's a must win for them and they usually respond well to must win games.  but then again, i can also see them winning in a tight one.

basketball is too hard to bet.

Lakers wither under Kobe’s glare
By Adrian Wojnarowski

BOSTON – On his way into the losing locker room, the most angry man in the Garden was heard to bellow a spontaneous stream of curses into the ears of his Los Angeles Lakers. As the door slammed behind them, a witness heard Kobe Bryant(notes) screaming that he needed some-bleeping-one to make a stand with him.

The Lakers have been pushed to the edge and Bryant to the brink. Here it was, the most important night of these NBA Finals, a Game 5 with everything even, and it felt like the post-Shaq Lakers with Bryant left to fend for himself. Bryant had gone for 38 points at the Garden, one tough shot after another, a great Celtics defense daring him to make baskets from one more odd angle, one more contested circumstance.

The loneliest Laker had to be Bryant, watching one breakdown after another, a procession of Celtics getting baskets and rebounds and loose balls when they most needed them. He needed someone to grab a defensive rebound, stop Paul Pierce(notes) and get between Rajon Rondo(notes) and the rim.

A little more than an hour after the 92-86 loss, the surliness was gone, replaced with pursed lips and a glare gone to Game 6 now. Bryant wore unlaced high-tops for an ankle that had been hurt again as he walked to a waiting bus on the loading dock.

When you allow an entire team to shoot 56%+ collectively, you're not playing a whole lot of defense.
Even the high flying Suns couldn't shoot 56% against the Lakers, so I am guessing that the Lakers just took last night off.

They did force a bunch of turnovers. They also did not put celts on free throw line very much either. Holding a team to 92 points at home is usually enough to get the job done. 56% FG defense sucks though. The Suns are a team that ups the pace and puts up a shitload of points and want as many possessions as possible. Celts are almost exactly the opposite.

What a let down man! Can`t blame the refs for this one either! Next time Pau just shut your fucken mouth before you blast Garnett! He`s making you look like a pussy cat, and I`m only being nice. Lakers will win next one for sure, I already talk tp David Stern to make sure :whistling:

So many different guys have stepped on that Boston team at differnt times...Big Baby, Nate, Ray Allen, Garnett, Pierce, Rondo...Lakers have had Kobe all series, Gasol for most of the series...?...Bynum for one game...Fisher for one game...and thats it.

Good thing about this last game is that hte Lakers still won the rebound, offensive rebound, 2nd chance points battles..even with so few contributors the Lakers only need to play better defense and work harder.

If Gasol doesnt show up either of the last 2 games Lakers will be done...they need that #2 guy since everybody else is having a hard time against that Boston D...Gasol is a top 10 NBA player and needs to make his mark on the remaining 2 games. 12 and 12 will not cut it.

So that is all i thing they need...more Gasol, more effort...more D.

I think that in summary that you are saying that they need a better collective team effort.

If KG is healthy last year, the Celtics woulda taken it to the Laker again. Pau Gasol is not tough enough VS Celtics defense.
