The payoff for those that watched 6 years of Lost came and went last night leaving more questions and confusion.
The explanation of many of the supernatural powers and beings on the show left more questions than answers?
What was the purpose of the energy source in the cave?
When Jacob, Jack then Hurley drank the water from the pond what did it do to exactly?
How did the Jacob’s brother turn into the black monster?
In the end they show the entire group reunited in what appears to be the afterlife.
What happened between the time that Jack laid there dead on the island and when he met up with everyone?
Was it that Jack died on the island; Hugo and Ben continued to live on the island for years; Kate, Sawyer, the Pilot and the other guy were the only ones to make it off the island? Then they all eventually met back up in the afterlife?
What about the life they were living after Oceanic flight 815 landed in Los Angeles instead of crashing on the island? Jack had a son with Juliet but how if he never met her until the island.
Ben Linus was a school teacher but how if he lived his entire life on the island?
Sawyer was a cop, how?
What happened with they blew the hydrogen bomb? Did they change the course of history?
I was really hoping for logical and plausible explanations to what was happening all these years on the island which is hard to expect being we were dealing with a black dust monster and ghosts. Having everybody meet in the afterlife is crap.
I think they never should have had anybody get off the island until the final season. Having he few get back to US soil last year and then return made whatever the ending was anticlimactic. The ultimate ending should have always been getting off the island with a few dieing along the way. That is just my opinion.

just quickly, everything that happened on the island was real and explained to some degree over this past season. The Sideways storylines existed in a type of purgatory that was created by those who died so they could find redemption and prepare themselves as a group to move on to their final destination, heaven presumably.
Jack died but others died before and long after him as his dad, Christian explained.

What did the Hydrogen bomb explosion accomplish? In the last season they were some saying how it worked...what worked?
The bomb exploded and nobody died from it...well eventually Juliet died but not from the explosion itself.

the bomb was suppose to reset the timeline to where everyone would be placed back on the plane and land at LAX as originally planned but obviously it didn't work that way. now what it actually did i'm not sure but it seemed like the Sideways world opened up from there.

But wasnt this sideways world what people are calling purgatory? The sideway story was inaccurate..Jack had a son with Juliet, Ben Linus was a school teacher or principal and Sawyer was a cop..those weren’t the original storylines for those characters when then crash landed on the island.
I really wish they didn’t subject the story and mainly the ending to these religious type views. I wanted the focus to be placed on the here and now.
Im reading blogs and articles and there are a variety of explanations of the ending...i guess that was the plan from the creators and writers..to have an ambiguous ending.

Sideways is perceived as purgatory and those storylines were created by those individuals as a means to redeem and resolve their issues. they each found a way through their Sideway life to get closure and become enlightened so they could move on. Desmond aided in reuniting each of them by having them back in contact and remembering their past life on the island.
the here and now was all the island happenings.
there was religious symbols and views from a lot of different religions.
im still trying to make sense of it myself.

Thats why i like blockbuster action flicks...hero vs badguy, bad guy gets upper hand, hero overcomes and defeats bad guy, lots of fights, explosions and chase scences in between...in the end hero wins and bad guy dies...hero gets the girl and a clever line to close out the last scene..the end...simple.
six years of Lost and im still asking questions...i deserved a clear explanation and ending dammit...i want my 6 years back.

Ive been on Yahoo answers, some random blogs and ABC.com Lost message board and everybody that “gets” it seems to be inline with your explanation. I also so many like me that don’t really get it. Its getting pretty chippy with those that get it and those that don’t like me. There was even someone giving credit to her 6 year college degree as to the reason that she can understand the ending. I guess implying that those that don’t get it are uneducated.
..also...i read an interview with the creators about how they wanted the viewers to focus on the people and not the mysteries of the island...thus, they didnt feel like they needed to spend time answering questions about the mysteries about the island. But I want everything answered..the white polar bear, the time traveling, the source of the energy, etc.

ive been reading the message boards too from different sites and some get it, some dont, some hate it, some love it and some people are just fucking stupid.
one douche only saw the pilot and the finale. how can you form an opinion about a 6-year old series based on the first and last episode?
Some people believe that everyone died on the plane which is not the case and its all over the thread but these people don't bother reading.
Some folks are so upset but dont offer up what they think would've been a better ending.
it wasn't perfect but still pretty special.
best part: Evangeline Lily can now be in other shows and movies. hopefully naked.
