The Warriors just waived Raja Bell. Bell has been on the injured list since December due to a wrist injury.

I believe the Lakers should sign him for the reminder of the season and see how he fits in. He is a guard with some nice size and can hit the 3 better than anybody on that Laker bench. He can take all of Sasha's minutes and a few from Farmar and S.Brown.
What is the worse that can happen? If he doesnt pan out just sit him on the bench. I say sign him to at least keep him away from other teams thinking of signing him to guard against Kobe.

This could be the late season signing that puts the Lakers over the top for good.

Your illogical thinking is why you're not Lakers General Manager. You are not capable of making smart decisions that can affect a multimillion dollar company.

Raja Bell has been injured since December, he's out of shape and is in no form to compete.

Raja said he wanted to come back this year and has stayed in shape to do so. How big of a decision is it really? He would cost next to nothing and if it did not work out he would sit on the bench or get cut. You also dont know what he has been doing since he has been sitting out and could very well be in pretty decent shape. he has always had a great work ethic.

Yes the same Raja but wasnt Artest the same Artest that got into it with Kobe last year in the playoffs? Yes.

Yes Raja has been on the shelf for almost 4 months now and is 33 years old but can you say that the guys the lakers have right now are better than Raja? Sasha, Farmar, S.Brown, Morrison? Raja is 6'5, a good tough defender and a nice spot up 3 point shooter. That is exactly what the Lakers could use right now off the bench.
The guy is coming off a year where he averaged 13ppg and shot 39% from 3's with Charlotte. He is a career 41% 3 point shooter.

If the can physically play he can help.

I'm really getting sick of seeing Sasha-bitch on the court. I hate emotional players who suck. If you're going to show emotion, do not SUCK! Gimme Raja Bell in ANY condition, on any day over that piece of chet.

Hey, I'm not saying he ain't good. He gives really good defense. I was only pointing that (clips) out because we all know that what Kobe wants, Kobe gets. And if Kobe goes into one of his pathetic tantrums (threatening to leave and what not), then the Lakers won't want to go through all that trouble just for Bell. However, if Kobe can be mature about this and let bygones be bygones, then I'm all for getting the "butcher". The Lakers don't really have a reputation of being "tough & dirty". Maybe Bell can provide a little of both.

Hell yeah! Pick up Raja! A vet with a great (or at least once great) 3 point shot and defense. He'll be motivated on a championship team and playing with his sancho, Kobe

Raja has really fallen off the map...i cant find any news on his health and if any team not named the Knicks is interested in him.

I did find this article which shows how the fued between Raja and Kobe is over. When asked who he thought was the MVP this year he answered Kobe, without a doubt.

It appears that this thread is moot….Since Raja was on a roster after march 1st then cut he is not eligible to be on any teams playoff roster. A team can still sign him for the rest of the season but he cant play in the playoffs for that team.

Im bringing this thread back since there are rumors about the Lakers and Kobe being interested in signing Raja Bell. I thought he would have been a great pick up for the Lakers this year but he was cut too late by Golden State for a team to sign him for the playoff run. With Shannon Brown and Farmar likely leaving Raja would be a great addition.

Yahoo Sports Adrian Worja..ski first reported that the Lakers were interested in signing Raja Bell.

The Los Angeles Lakers and guard Raja Bell(notes)  will enter free agency with a strong mutual interest to reach agreement on a deal, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Kobe Bryant(notes) has become a strong advocate for Bell, a former nemesis. After missing most of the season with surgery to repair ligaments in his non-shooting wrist, Bell is still expected to be a coveted bench player among contending teams. He could give the Lakers another strong perimeter defender and a solid outside shooting threat.

Bell, 33, was dealt to the Golden State Warriors in November as part of the Stephen Jackson(notes) trade with the Charlotte Bobcats. Bell missed all but six games last season.

Bell famously dropped Bryant with a clothesline foul in the 2006 playoffs, but the two developed a mutual respect and bond. Bell was ejected and suspended a game for the foul, and complained about Bryant’s tactics in the postgame news conference.

“It’s a personal thing when someone continually hits you in the face,” Bell said at the time. “That’s the only way I can put it. I’ve been playing as hard as I can play. I’ve been trying to do a good job, I’ve been trying to be what my team needs me to be, and I continually get hit in my face. There doesn’t seem to be any boundaries or limitations for what he’s allowed to do to me, and at that point, I kind of lost my cool and I took it into my own hands.”

Bell made a league-high 205 3-pointers in the 2006-07 season for the Suns under coach Mike D’Antoni, but his role changed the next season under Terry Porter and he was eventually shipped to Charlotte. Bell averaged 13 points in 45 games for the Bobcats in the 2008-09 season.

If the Lakers can afford this foo, then I say give it a shot. He may be 33, but I agree that he throws down some nasty 3's. Something the Lakers really need. I wonder what Mitch has in store for the Lakers next season.
