I was being sarcastic, Ron.
I know that you were being sarcastic since no Gator fan with a brain thinks anything of Zookas a head coach. I know that you have a brain. Tennesse is doomed to mediocrity for the immediate future.
Georgia will be much imporoved next so watch out for Dawgs but your assessment of SEC West is spot on.

I've been thinking for a while now that Petey was over rated. He did well, but he should have done better. Those losses to UCLA, Oregon St, and Stanford that ruined seasons were inexcusable. The best years at USC were with Chow, Kiffin and Ed the recruiter on board. If they get Chow, how can things not be better than they were this year, and as good as they were between the Texas game in 2005 and this year? Hiring Kiffin had me intrigued. Adding Chow thrills me. If they can slide by the NCAA without too much damage, things might be A.O.K. Funny, the last few days I've been sweatin' USC's future. Now the pressure has shifted to the haters. They're sweatin' the fact that the empire might not crumble anytime soon.

I think that I might have been the one to get you thinking that Pete was overrated Bob. There are a couple of things that may crumble the empire though. One is that the other teams in the PAC-10 are catching up talent and scheme wise and the other is that Kiffin has proven nothing yet as a head coach. He might be good and he might not. NCAA will probably be the key to the whole puzzle.

the bands back together. with Chow, Barkley will improve by leaps and bounds. Coach O will fire up recruiting and Monty will bring defensive credibility and Lane will...he'll at least keep a pro-style offense. All have NFL experience that will mean something to recruits. another BCS championship, baby!

Knoxville reportedly is anarchy: students rioting, burning stuff, marching on athletic building. Cops called.

they are pissed at kiffen...  i don't blame them.

If that's true, then Tennessee fan is even more of an inbred, dumbshit hick than I thought they were.

Norm Chow is garbage. He didnt do anything at Tennesse or with the Bruins. Its easy to look like genius when you have Reggie Bush and a few other Heisman candidates. USC you can have him. We whomped on Kiffins team last year and we will whomp on his team this year. USC is going to suck dont fool yourselfs. USC had their time in the sun. Its UCLAs time to shine.

SC still has plenty of talent. with Chow the offense will run a lot smoother and Barkley will improve. Chow had more to work with at SC. UCLA didn't have enough talent. Prince or Kraft? Really? Enjoy 13-9. thats the last time for a long time before you see another.

yeah you must right! that was sarcasm jerk. If you honestly believe you will do just as well with Lane Kiffin you are smoking crack. The guy had a losing record at UT and with the Raiders. Have fun sucking or simply jumping off the band wagon like a lot of USC fans have already done. Where were the USC diehards? As soon as they start to suck nobody cares about them. USC fan to me is like Angel fan. no where to be seen before 2002. Oh they're good now? That's my team!

What was Kiffin, 8th choice? Didnt Riley, Sark, Del Rio and other turn them down?

Everyone has a losing record at the Raiders. Kiffin was 7-6 at UT. That may be a losers record, but it's not a losing record. If they get Chow, they will have a better coaches supporting cast than when they were their best. I'm not impressed with the way things went down, but Pete started this mess. And when things were looking bad, that Garrett douche pulled a rabbit out of his hat. I see it as a big gamble with a lot of potential in either direction. It could blow the school up or save the program. And I've heard people that know more than Sally or I say so. After being left high and dry by Pete Carroll and no one willing to take a chance right now, Garrett definitely went all in. And say Norm Chow sucks all you want, but many, many UCLA people will be disappointed to see him go. And Chows record speaks for himself. He succeeded nicely at BYU, was in charge of the offense at USC with Carson Palmer and lame-o Matt Leinert, making them both Heisman winners. Failing to utilize a dumb, running Vince Young when you're a coach that specializes in drop back, defense reading QB's, is not something I hold against him either. And Slick Rick N. didn't have a problem with it either. It's nice to find hope where there was little and priceless to stomp UCLA's throat at the same time. Hate Kiffin all you want, but adding Monte and Lane Kiffin, Ed Odregon, possibly Norm Chow and subtract an 8-4 Pete Carrol who had a knack for losing a game every year without Norm Chow and not making the BCS title game, and you could easily have a net gain. I'm not guaranteeing anything like you seem to be. But its very possible that things will be just fine. FUCLA Fight On! USC makes the Pac Ten fun! Four straight comes in 2010!!

since 2002 the Raiders have sucked. they sucked before Kiffin got there, sucked while he was there, and continue to suck. the sucking may not end until Al is gone.

USC is still a top program. Now with some of the best recruiters in the country. Add Chow and you got a formidable offensive mind and Monte on defense. Any kid who wants to go to the NFL will go to USC because of the pro-style program and pro experience of the staff. Look at the NFL now and its peppered with former Trojans.

i'm not jumping off of anything. although it is true about those Angel fans. :dodgers:

i had to share this...

Quote Of The Day
By Scott Wolf on January 13, 2010 9:42 AM | Permalink | Comments (15) | ShareThis

A rival athletic director had this to say on USC's hiring of Lane Kiffin: ``If they get Norm Chow plus Ed Orgeron and Monte Kiffin, Winnie the Pooh could be the head coach.''

Chow isn't there, yet. Kiffin is familiar with the territory, so the hire makes sense. If the sanctions do come, then just keep him around until the sanctions lift, then go get a big name. But you can't deny Kiffin is surrounding himself with one of the better coaching staffs in the country.

Correct on Chow. Let's not count that egg before it hatches. The silence about him from official sources says there is something to the rumor. It's so wild that it's hard to believe though. Until it's on paper, I'm going to try to not get too far ahead of reality.

Why would Chow want to leave to work for the guy who replaced him as offensive coordinator?
Has anyone actually read anything about Chow's response to any of this news?
Why is it assumed he's going to Southern Cal?
Show some loyalty, Norm.  Finish the job you started.
Let the 'all show, no go' coach run that proud program into the ground on his own.

this according to scott wolf of inside USC..

So Monte Kiffin, Ed Orgeron and Norm Chow will join Lane Kiffin at USC. I spoke to Chow on Tuesday before the announcement and he confirmed USC approached him to become offensive coordinator.
Hadn't seen this.
Wolf's an SC homer.
