CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) -- The United States will play England, Slovenia and Algeria in the first round of next year's World Cup in what appears to be a relatively easy group.

The U.S. opens against England in Rustenburg on June 12, their first World Cup matchup since the Americans' 1-0 upset victory at the 1950 tournament in Brazil.

The United States then plays Slovenia at Johannesburg's Ellis Park on June 18 and completes the first round on June 23 with its first-ever match against Algeria in Pretoria.

Mexico was drawn Friday to meet South Africa in the tournament opener on June 11 in Johannesburg. El Tri then plays France and Uruguay.

It looks like a pretty good drawing, I can see us beating the English chaps. USA! USA! USA! Where the phuck are you at Honda? Comeback leave your girlfriend alone, she`s probably hungry. I would love to see the frenchies put a smack down on Mexico, only because I want Honda to eat his phuckin words that is only if his girlfriend doesn`t eat it first.

You are not giving our boys a shot, and may I ask why you will be rocking a Douchland jersey and not a USA or Mexico jersey?

If the US can't beat Algeria and Slovenia, they don't deserve to move on. All they need to do is finish 1st or 2nd in their group. I have a hard to time seeing the US beat England if Onyewu, DeMerrit, and Davies are still out. But I think two if not all three of them should be back by then. This is probably the best draw the US could have hoped for.

Mexico's group is pretty tough. It should be between Mexico, France, and Uruguay.

Toughest group is Brazil, North Korea, Ivory Coast, and Portugal.

I don`t see Mexico beating the frenchies or Uruguay. Hopefully the Americans will be at full strength. USA! USA!

Well i has born into a mexican family, so going for mexico was natural, BUT, i am american so i always go for them (even if their fans hate me, which is fair because mexico fans are also dumbasses too) but im also german (My Last name is Dieffenbacher) and i love the way they killed argentina last fifa, so i became a fan of them. I want Mexico to win because ive seen the last 3 FIFA where mexico chocks, but if they dont make it, i want USA or Germany to win

and to reply to shal...

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Of course Mexico can beat Uraguy, THEY SUCK. Your not giving credit where credit it do! Im not a mexico ballwasher, but Mexico is a top 10 talent, and in my eyes (when concentrated) they are better than the USA.

I will never understand how the Galaxy gave this scrub all that money. I`m glad the fans gave him hell a couple of times. That bastard should have been arrested after his first game for robbery.

The U.S. doesn't have the talent to compete with the top soccer countries.  It's not being anti-american, just fact.  They are like the bucks or blazers, not to make the playoffs but no chance to go all the way

I don't think any USA fan would disagree. But the single elimination set-up gives a small glimmer of hope. I don't think the US will win, but they've shown they can hang and beat the traditional soccer powers.
