Unable to mediate a settlement with opponents of a football stadium proposed for the city of Industry, the California Senate approved a measure Wednesday that exempts the project from state environmental laws. The bill, which passed on a bare majority vote of 21 to 14, was drafted to allow developer Ed Roski's Majestic Realty to build the stadium with private funds near the intersection of the 57 and 60 freeways to attract an NFL team. Steinberg cited the double-digit unemployment rate in Los Angeles County as a reason for granting the exemption. Amid concern that Roski might persuade the San Diego Chargers to relocate to Industry, Sen. Mark Wyland (R-Escondido) tried unsuccessfully to change the bill to require that any team based at the new stadium come from out of state. His proposal to have San Diego given the same exemption to environmental laws so it could build a new stadium also failed.

Los Angeles Chargers. :frustrated:  :mooning:  :bird:

Chargers are now looking in Escondido as a possible site for a new stadium.

Their local fans can't even watch a Jags game on television.
I wanna say this week will be the 3rd straight home blackout.
The league won't put up with that for long.

That`s why they want to move man, if you can`t sell out an important game like this against a division rival than you don`t deserve to have a team in San Diego. Bring them down, i`m sure L.A. will embarace the Chargers before they ever embrace the Raidas or the Rams.

LOS ANGELES The company behind a plan to lure the NFL back to Los Angeles said Tuesday the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills are the first teams it will try to relocate.

Majestic Realty Co. managing partner John Semcken said the company is still considering at least seven franchises for a new stadium some 25 miles east of Los Angeles.

They also include the San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, St. Louis Rams and Oakland Raiders.

But he said the Jaguars and the Bills are at the top of the list because they play in small markets that tamp down their earning potential and because they have little hope of building larger venues in their home regions.

"Jacksonville and Buffalo are two teams in very, very small markets, he said. "They are teams that have either outdated stadiums or are having trouble filling their stadiums or both."

The Jaguars have struggled for years to fill Jacksonville Municipal Stadium and had several games blacked out on local TV this season. The Bills, meanwhile, have been playing some home games in Toronto in an effort to expand their market.

Messages were left seeking comment from the Jaguars and Bills.

Jaguars majority owner Wayne Weaver and Bills owner Ralph Wilson have steadfastly dismissed any suggestion they will sell or move their teams.

Semcken said Majestic won't approach the 49ers, Chargers or Vikings as long as they are seeking stadium plans of their own. He said it would not be fair to interfere with their efforts to remain in their home markets.

Semcken also said Majestic chief executive Ed Roski's preference is to find owners willing to sell their franchise to a consortium of investors that he would lead, rather than buying a minority stake in a team that would move with its existing majority owner at the helm. :coffee:

I would want the Raider back #1.
But if not i would not want the Chargers here...stay in San Diego, please.
I would take the Jags if Raiders are not available.
Would love to see MJD come back to LA.

eff the Raiders. Jags would be perfect. still a young franchise with a small fan base. able to attract a way bigger following here in LA. the name would have to be changed though. LA Jaguars? dont think so.

I like the idea of the Jaguars franchise moving and becoming LA's team.

A Tim Tebow led Los Angeles Jaguars!

Tim Tebow starting QB from your Los Angeles Jaguars, running the spread offense with MJD, & Mike Sims Walker.

Tebow with the keeper... Touchdown Tebow, touchdown Gators! uh... I meant, Jaguars!

I can't even imagine how much MJD would be marketed if the Jaguars came here. I don't see a problem with LA Jaguars. It's not great by any means, but certainly not the worst. Please god not the Bills.

Yea...the Jaguars are the closest to an expanision team LA will get...the are a recent expanision team with no history...they could built their identity here in LA as if they were a new team...i would not lose my Raider love..but i could start to consider not hating the Jags.
