I'll take NHL regular season hockey over regular season NBA anyday of the week. Playoffs are not even close as far as intensity. I will admit that I watch very little regular season NBA these days. Season is too long and most teams are just going through the motions. Lakers sleepwalked through most of this season and are still waiting for wake-up call. That or they are just not as good as most people think.

The only thing that comes close to NHL playoffs is March Madness.

As far as the Kings, they need someone to help out Doughty.

I am cheering for the Wings so the Canucks can kill them in the next round. So far it is not going so well. Wings lost their composure last night in the third period. Very unusual. I actually saw Jumbo Joe make some big plays too. Also very unusal. Nabby still has a few games to blow it. He has done it before. Even if Sharks win they will get butt raped in the next round. They will regret trading Erhoff to Canucks.

Adopt the Canucks for a couple of months. I got 15-1 and 18-1 tickets on them to win Cup. I am actually a Blackhawk fan but it ain't happening this year. Canuck fans support their team well and have gone 40 years without a Cup. I hope Flyers come out of East but they are really banged up.

I don't like Luongo. I think he's overrated. He's been good this playoffs, I'll give him that. I don't like the Blackhawks because I don't like Seabrook. I don't like San Jose because I hate the team, same with Detwat. I want Philly to lose, because the Ducks have Philly's 1st round pick this year. I hate Boston, because it's Boston. I don't like Pitt because of Matt Cooke. I don't have any huge problem with Motreal, maybe I'll adopt them.

I am a big Luongo fan. I never thought he had a team around him good enough for him to be considered overrated until last year. He sucked vs. Chicago last year but this is a different year. Brodeur has stunk it up many times in the playoffs with loaded teams but all anyone remembers are those 3 Stanley Cups. You could root for Hawks as lesser of all evils since you only dislike one of their players. I am actually a Hawk fan but I do not like their attitude. As far as Philly the draft order has been decided by the regular season I believe and Flyers can win Cup and it will not affect where Ducks pick. Canadiens have won way too many Cups and their fans have a sense of entitlement so I could never root for them. I hate Matt Cooke myself and Pens are my girlfriend's team so I want them to go down. Boston does not bother me. They are similar to Chicago in that they have great fans who have been waiting for a long time to end Cup drought. May the best team win.

Watched the Kings beat the Vancouver Canucks 2-1. I almost thought the Kings were done for, but they didn't give up and thanks to Justin Williams, they scored a late power-play goal to tie it up 1-1. It finally came down to a pretty exciting shootout. I think the Canucks got away with a gang of cheap shots, especially one that sent Anze Kopitar to the locker room for 15 stitches around his upper lip and three stitches inside his mouth from a hockey stick cheap shot from Manny Malhotra. Kopitar later returned for the start of the third period and scored in the shootout. Jonathan Quick did a great job protecting the goal, especially during the shootout.

Even though the Kings won, I feel this young Kings team still has a ways to go. They're a good young team, but they lack experience and toughness. They had many opportunities in this game to score, but it's not easy scoring against the leagues best goalie in Luongo. Unfortunately, he was not able to save them during the shootout. Great game though.  :hockey2:

Wow, you are amazing me with your puck knowledge. I thought Nucks had this game won but the late penalty hurt them. Kings played a ton of these type of games last year where they tied game late in 3rd period and then won in shootout. Kings struggle to score goals at even strength and until they solve this I would agree that they have a way to go.

Kings beat Thrashers 3-1

The L.A. Kings came back home and went back to goalie Jonathan Quick, who allowed only one goal out of 32 attempts to help the Kings secure a 3-1 win over the Thrashers. It was a frustrating 2 quarters for the Kings (as well as the fans) until they came alive in the 3rd quarter. The Kings broke through and tied the game 3:53 into the third period with a goal by Ryan Smyth. Not too long after that, with 13:50 left, the Kings scored another goal by Jarret Stoll. Finally with only a few seconds left in the game, the Kings, yet again, scored a third time once again by Ryan Smyth. Very exciting game overall.

Compared to their first game, I have to say that the Kings played much more aggressive. I think they're off to a pretty good start and I'm anxious to see how they will do this Friday in their second meeting against the Nucks. Go Kings!!  :hockey2:

Kings beat Canucks 4-1

The Los Angeles Kings returned home to Staples Center and won their second straight meeting against the Vancouver Canucks 4-1 after less than a week when they won the Nucks in Vacouver for the season opener 2-1. First of the 4 goals came from Jarret Stoll in the 1st quarter. Second came from Justin Williams in 2nd quarter. The last two were from Dustin Brown in the 3rd quarter. Jonathan Quick blocked 25 of 26 attempts. The one goal that did get away from him was his own fault. Instead of typically blocking the puck by bending the knees down and towards each other (I'm not sure if there's a technical term for this blocking move), he dove forward for it, slowing him down and allowing the puck to easily slip between his legs. Great game overall though.   :hockey2:
I still stand by my comments that this young Kings team needs more experience and toughness, but I have to also admit that they're learning very quickly. They're defense has gone up a notch or three. Their offense, especially their ability to slow down and create better plays has improved as well. Overall, we're off to a great start winning three of our first four games. Go Kings!

Kings beat Hurricanes 4-3

Before heading off to a five-game road trip, the L.A. Kings took care of the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 at Staples Center. Though he allowed three goals, I think Jonathan Bernier did a great job, especially during the third quarter. I have to say that this game has been the most exciting to watch so far, especially in the third quarter. 21-23 penalty kills for the Kings this season. That's not too bad. Go Kings!  :hockey2:

I personally think they have a huge chance of making the playoffs this season, especially the way they're playing right now. Very aggressive game play and both goalies are doing great. I wasn't able to go to one of their games last season due to financial reasons, but my nephew promises us some seats this season.  :peace:  Go Kings!  :hockey2:

Although outshot 40-23, the Los Angeles Kings pull off a win against the New Jersey Devils (3-1) Saturday night. This victory brings the Kings to a 4-0 record at home. The Devils' Ilya Kovalchuk made a great effort to quiet the the Kings fans booing. However, it was Matt Taormina's slaphot (from just inside the blue line) that flew bye Jonathan Quick, (7-1) putting the Devils on the board.  This victory brings the Kings to the number 1 spot overall in the NHL with an overall record of 8-3 and 16 points (Yea Baby!). As they look ahead to the Tampa Bay Lightning (Nov. 04), they'll have to keep their focus in order to gain a 5-0 record at home. Go Kings!!  :hockey2:
