The U.S. Drug Czar's office has declared that smoking marijuana compromises your game playing abilities. "Getting high affects your brain in ways that may directly influence your gaming ability," warns the Drug Czar's "Above the Influence" Web site, citing the impairment of "everything from reaction time to reasoning skills." According to the site, marijuana may lead to a harder time "defeating an opponent and beating a game."The government's new video ads feature game avatars lamenting the fact that their players' skills worsened at playing games because they smoked up. "It's not that the challenges got harder, it's that Chris's skills got worse," a fantasy RPG character says, "Why? Because Chris started getting high while he was in control."

No matter how you feel about the idea of an elf telling you not to get high (the talking elves usually tell me to smoke more!), there is a huge difference between these public service ads and the propaganda of the past. "The Man" used to tell you that smoking weed would lead to harder drugs, make you into a raving addict, destroy your life, and make your brain into an egg on a frying pan. The message here is less hysterical and more realistic: If you smoke pot, you will suck at games. Alright. I'll buy that. Of course, no mention is made of whether gaming while high might make you have more fun, even if you do fail more often...

I like to drive around town, do yard work, play guitar and write while I'm high. Good thing I don;t do anything unproductive like play video games. My brain would be mush.

I think the issue isn't video games but that it does impair reaction time and reasoning skills.  But that doesn't affect yard work so your good

I always play high infact If I didnt I probably wouldnt play video games. I beat games on hardcore and I can get like 17 kill streaks in call of duty world at war in team deathmatch. Once you get used to playing the game it doesnt really matter. Its harder when I play drunk but even then I still kick ass.

I've played Unreal Tournament with smokers and they usually suck.  Then because they suck they claim the game sucks.

Youve never played with me and I can tell you it sucks. I dont suck at it I just hate that it doesnt have a campaign its like warzone or deathmatch with bots. Not fun. If I wanted to play deathmatch I would play call of duty its way better than unreal tournament.

It is strictly a multi-player game.  Looks like you haven't played online against human opponents.  The campaign is only for training purposes.  It's not meant to be a single player game.  None of the UT's were.  They are made strictly for multi-player action.  Better you don't get online and play because if I see you ***************************

Its cool you wont. I know I wont see you playing Call of Duty world at war or gears of war 2. You always hate new games. I'm sure 2 years from now you will be all over world at war and gears 2. When you can get a used copy for like $19.99.

Not needed.  I issued a challenge and it was rejected.  I will start playing modern warfare online though.  Us poor folks with kids to feed and support through college have to be smart about how we spend our money.
