I'm probably the only one who will watch it, but damn it's usually exciting. There are always a lot of trades, and most involving recognizable names. The Ducks should be in the thick of things with the possibility of players such as Chris Pronger and J.S. Giguere astrade bait. Oh yeah, I'm sure the Kings will do something dumb as well.

I always watch it but was expecting some more activity. Not too suprised that Pronger was traded and though Ducks did reasonably well in the trade. July 1st is going to be a real interesting day.

Last year there was something like 12 trades in the first round. So this year was relatively calm. You're right though, July 1st should be interesting since there wasn't much activity at the draft.

The Pronger trade was obviously going to happen after Niedermayer said he was coming back. Sbisa, the prospect they got in return, could end up being the center point of the trade. Murray has said there is more for him to do, so I can't wait.

I think the Ducks are going to sign Marty Havlat. I was hoping for J-Bo but that is not going to happen and I think he would have wanted too much money. I hope the Duck bring back Wiz but i am pretty sure that Beach is as good as gone to Montreal for big bucks.

Havlat? I don't know. I think he may want too much money. J-Bo will be too much money, but I'm thinking Wiz will be back. Beauchemain will get overpaid by someone. Montreal or Toronto would be my guess.

Ducks still neeed some offense and Havlat is a cheaper option than either Hossa or Gaborik. Most of the elite players are going to be overpaid as they almost always are. Havlat will probably get atleast $6 million. Looks like J-Bo will sign with Calgary. i think Gaborik is going to go to Vancouver. I have no clue where Hossa will wind up but i kind of think it will not be Detroit. I also think that the Ducks may make a move on Heatley if thay strike out in free agency.

The Ducks are at $37 million right now. The cap is $56.8 million, and I think the Samuelli's don't want to go that high. You need to at least re-sign Scott Niedermayer, James Wizniewski, and Todd Marchant. Then I think they need a 2nd line center, another defenceman, and a defensive center/winger. The name I've heard a lot is Saku Koviu.

The classy Joe Sakic retired.  It is bittersweet.  He is going to walk right into the HOF.

Deservedly so. Never really cared for Avs but I have always respected Sakic. Class act very much like Yzerman. Neither ever got all the fanfare that they rightfully deserved.
Glad both of these guys stayed with one franchise throughout their great careers.

Excellent call on this and Beauch to Toronto.

I'm on the Ducks message boards on the team site, and all they talked about was Koivu because Selanne is like his best friend. They were close to going to arbitration with Wiz, so I'm glad they got that done. He basically signed a try out contract. With Beauch, Burke is basically building an Anaheim style team in Toronto, so I figured he would want to poach some of his old players. $3.8 million per year is a lot for him in my opinion. Especially with the salary cap coming down next year.

I'm pretty thrilled with the moves Murray has made. The team has lost some defensive presence but they've become more well rounded.

Nice to see that somebody that actually knows something about hockey is on Ducks board.  I used to go on there a lot but just saw a lot of myopic homers. I am on Hockeyfutures boards myself. I believe Murray has done a great job with what he was left to work with and am looking forward to this season.
