Former Laker Darius Morris Praises Kobe As A Teammate

Kobe Bryant’s reputation as a teammate is, perhaps, not the greatest. And he recently admitted that his leadership is not about being the nicest person to people.

But many who have played with Kobe say otherwise. Most recently, former Laker Darius Morris praised Kobe Instagram on his 36th birthday:

In addition to the picture posted, Morris posted a lengthy message in which he spoke on Bryant as a teammate and all he had done for him:

He schooled me on the business and lifestyle of the NBA. Although a couple jokes here and there He was never negative or talked down to anybody and I was there when went thru some tough times but he went out of his way to be helpful towards me, push me, and to think big picture in life and to have the mental toughness to remain focus and never be satisfied What more could you want from a teammate?

Morris also spoke on Kobe’s love for the game, and said he understood how someone who puts his everything into basketball could find it difficult to trust others to do the same.

Morris may not have been able to become the player the Lakers hoped he would, but he was still able to get life lessons from Kobe and he seems to be extremely grateful for that.

Darius Morris was not quick enough to be a shooting guard and his play making wasn’t good enough to be a point.

    • Guest

I only saw him in person once and thought he played good defense on Harden.

    • tailormade

actually, he was quick enough. but he sucked at PG(which was SUPPOSEDLY his natural position). and the only time he looked semi serviceable at SG is when kobe was playing next to him using him as derek fisher(spot up corner 3 guy and nothing more). the guy had the quicks to pull it off. but not the understand of footwork. he had handles but couldnt use them to beat anyone off the dribble. this tells you he didnt have footwork. handles – footwork = you aint going any where. and since he couldnt really shoot. he couldnt even create space off the dribble to pull up.

  • David

Like I said previously; Kobe is not unfriendly and he is not a DICK for a team mate but if you’re on the same floor with him it’s his selfish style of play that will make it difficult for you to play with.

    • Guest

Morris probably caught Bryant at the “right” time. If he’d been Bryant’s teammate when Bryant was in his early 20s, he would have seen a different Bryant–one who was young, brash, and didn’t take kindly to criticism and advice from his coaches.

      • tailormade

this is also an untrue statement. kobe always took kindly to corrective critic. Not just criticism for the sake of putting someone down(how shaq use to throw his teammates under the bus while bricking ft’s.. back in the del harris days.) Shaq calling out kobe all the time while kobe just sucked it up and finally couldnt take it anymore and called shaq fat and out of shape(which was 100% true, even though we all loved the big fella when he was in prime condition). young kobe played with guys that were much older then him. of course he wouldnt hang out with them all the time. most star rookes end up on teams where they are the main guy and most of the guys on their team are around their age. most star rooks are not the children of X nba players/ X overseas professional players. which means what old vets can show you about “THE LIFE” is not necessary for a guy like kobe. he saw it up close with his own father. he has already been around the world and back. there’s not much shaq could show him or anyone else on that team from the LIFE perspective. that his dad didnt already show him. Thats an angle no one talks about.

Do u even watch the Lakers kobe hasn’t been that selfish player since 06 07 and that’s cuz he had 2 I’ve seen him become since pau got there become a lot more passive and of course he’s gonna take, over when he has 2 nd why wouldn’t he when he can single handedly win a game by himself but go back nd look at the finals games nd the playoffs those years nd you’ll see sum of the best assists of his career and when shaq was there he had sum really really good assists games if shaq was able 2 make free throws kobe would’ve kept passing 2 him one of his greatest plays of his career wasn’t a dunk or shot it was an assist or alleyoop 2 shaq in the western conference title game vs Portland 2 ice the game!

    • tailormade

its not selfish to shoot when you’re the darn shooting guard. its not selfish to be the floor general when you have never had a allstar PG to run the show. the time they did (GP) kobe hit the wing and kept his mouth closed. Nash was hurt since he’s been here. so dont say but but nash… stop it. Give kobe cp3 and watch kobe become a wing guy off the ball. The only reason people no longer complain about Jordan’s so called “ball hogging” ways is because pippen was the FLOOR general(kukoc helped later on). So MJ had one job and one job only. Score and score some more, only pass when you are in trouble, or when there’s a fast break and someone is ahead of the pack. kobe has always had to be Jordan and Pippen all in one, the moment he became a starter for the lakers.

Kobe would not recognize himself in that tale you’re weaving. Kobe is a great player. There’s no reason to try to rewrite history and pretend he isn’t who he is. Kobe would not respect that.

  • Truth B Told

There are a lot of former players who gave Kobe his props for helping their game….Isn’t it ironic that players no longer with the Lakers had their best years playing alongside Kobe…..Those are the things haters do not address because it kills their theory that Kobe is about Kobe…Gasol, Bynum, Odom Ariza, Farmar, S.Brown, Sasha, D.George and others..Many not in the league now…….That’s is called..Truth B Told

  • Zach

Kobe sure inspired this guy to greatness, huh? For every nobody that comes forward and says Bryant was a great teammate, you know there are five others who hate his stinking guts.

    • Al Haldie

You mean like you – Oh that’s right you have never talked to him – or have you played with him – of course not —-your just a TROLL who has never done any thing..

      • Devon Samuels²⁴

He just a typical Hater/Troll that like to spend his life on a page that he hates other then worry about his own team witch that is wired lol

    • Truth B Told

A mind truly is a terrible thing to waste…..The catch is…….you have to have one to waste.

    • Hammie4Lif3

Kobe is simply overflowing with greatness because for someone/something to be great there must be haters. You seems to be in every post hating on kobe. Haters always have so much time to go on Laker’s or Kobe’s website/forum just to spread the “LOVE” for kobe.

      • Darion Collet Martinez

Zach is a tick on Kobe’s ass that just wont let go

        • Al Haldie

The way you get rid of them you lite them up with fire and the back out – im sure ZACK would back up if some one set a fire under his ASS.. He is just a want a-be but will never make it…

    • lakeshow

Name em asshole…oh you cant. You’ve never been in the NBA and never played with him and like the troll you are you’re going to argue what someone who actually played with him said. Where is your dunce cap?

    • Taylor

Kobe sure has guts! Unlike you who can’t say these things straight to his face. Hell, you won’t even dare expose your true identity to the Lakers fans. And you’ve said you are a Laker fan but hate Kobe. How do you celebrate their championships when he has clearly been a big part of them?

      • Al Haldie

He just goes back to his closet…

    • Darion Collet Martinez

      Hey guys, it’s Zach, Kobe’s bit**….Hi Zach…

    • tailormade

@zach aka the laker hater . Name these 5? Smush is 1. and smush has never been as good as he was playing alongside of kobe. smush allowed nash to tear him a new one in the playoffs and was never the same. kobe tried to get him out of his slump but he just wouldnt come out of it. but when he got that big steal. who was the first person all in smush’s ear “Thats what i’m talking about go get dem……” Kobe bryant. See yall still dont get kobe. If you’re ready to go to war on the court. you can roll with him. if not, Get out of the way and get off of his team. you dont have a to be a star for kobe to love you(fisher, horry, fox). you just have to be willing to lay everything YOU got on the line to win and show you are not afraid of the pressure. scary cats go home, this isnt child’s play, this is a mens league. take that mentally soft stuff elsewhere.

    • Al Haldie

Well your a nobody so that makes one who are the other 4.

  • Adri Sajjad

haters stop hate…he is not selfie he just kobe himself

    • Al Haldie

Their not real haters, their just children who have no life – and cant find any one to play with..

  • クリス ♒ WΔV¥ ♒

but but but kobe is selfish and his teammates hate him !!

    • Al Haldie

lets go its time for SCHOOL children-go get in the CAR..

    • Justin

I wish I were his team mate. So when I need to go to the hospital, I can borrow his helicopter…and land on your empty head.

  • tengersss

who iin the nba isnt selfish?

  • PeeWeesus

If you don’t want to win, don’t play with Kobe

    • Devon Samuels²⁴

      Strait up!

  • sUPER gIRL

    AMEN TO THAT!!!

  • lakeshow

Of course the mainstream media would never report on stuff like this. I always have and always will state that the only team mates who had an issue with Kobe were either the jealous ones or the lazy ones who didnt buy into his insane work ethic and putting in 100% effort.

  • independentbynature

So much for the haters claim of Kobe being a bad team mate….

  • fuckclippersfan

    wtf clippers fan here

  • Phoebe

Like MY comment if you think CLIPPERSRUNLA is not welcome in this site.

  • independentbynature

We don’t GAF what you think little clipper troll.Does your mama know you talk like that?

  • Guest

Actually, you GAF what Morris thought by reading the article and commenting on it.

  • vinnie chase24

Clippers run LA to 0 championships, 0 western conference championships, 0 western conference finals appearance.

  • fatZach

and chris paul led his stacked team to the second round again lol. maybe they can get to the western conference finals this year. if they don’t then the clippers will never win shit because they have one of the best rosters in the league with a great coach. it doesn’t get any better than the team they have. I for one sure like having the banners and a few years of downtime as opposed to being a cursed franchise.

  • Joey Torres

    he played only 6 game.

  • Stan

How can u lead a team when he didn’t play. Just plain dumb comment. Not surprise u have clipper on ur name… Lmao!!!

  • Al Haldie

Is that all you got – Children go to BED..

  • vinnie chase24

    Nuff said

  • vinnie chase24

Ballhog while leading the league in assists for a shooting guard, the year he got injured. Get your facts straight before u comment

  • Brylle Uri

    stupid ass

  • Joey Torres

wow and he played all season? you are a joke.

  • クリス ♒ WΔV¥ ♒

yeah . because he played SOOOOO many games, right

  • Al Haldie

You can see by their picture their just CHILDREN – have pity on them …

  • fatZach

and look how far cp3 has gotten with arguably the best all around roster in the league lol.

  • vinnie chase24

Yeah except kobe played in only 6 games so ur statement he led them to that record is a much bigger lie. If ur clippers can put up championship banners instead of its players banners stop running ur mouth. Maybe u just like things being put inside ur mouth. Smh

  • hehatesme

    Neither does 16 championships

  • Phoebe

you mean 8 to 0 “likes” is not a lot? No wonder 16 to 0 Championships is ok with you.

  • LakersLifer

Listen clippers RUIN la , wack, TheTroll, or whatever your name is, just because society rejects you, doesn’t mean you have to take out your anger on our team.

  • CLIPPERSARETHEBESTINTHEWORLD

Clippers Run LA! Clippers Rule LA! Yehey! Woah! We are the Champions! wait…that was for the division? Oh well, let’s just cover the other banners on the rafters.

  • Ryan

    16 – 0

    The End

  • Guest

He played in only six games. Hardly leading.

  • Hammie4Lif3

look here everyone, we have another Clipper fan in the house. I guess LA still runs LA

  • big rick

He probably don’t have a boyfriend at his mom’s basement not having a life

  • hehatesme

You mean the ones who weren’t good enough to shoot the ball once in a while.

  • hehatesme

How about Kobe’s record the last 14 seasons? 7 finals appearances, 5 rings. How about cp3? 2 playoff appearances and…and…help me out here

  • Landof16rings

    An alternative term (of a troll) is bái làn (Chinese: 白爛;
literally: “white rot”), which describes a post completely nonsensical
and full of folly made to upset others, and derives from a Taiwanese
slang term for the male genitalia, where genitalia that is pale white in colour represents that someone is young, and thus foolish. Both terms originate from Taiwan, and are also used in Hong Kong and mainland China.
