Fantasy Basketball Outlook: Grab Markieff Morris While You Can

Markeiff MorrisWe here at Lakers Nation know that Fantasy Basketball is a huge part of the culture in being a fan of the NBA. So for those of you that are currently in a league, and looking for some ways to improve your team, we’ve put together a list of players you should consider picking up to make your team that much better.

Point Guards

Patrick Beverley – He gave a performance worth noting on Saturday when scored 19 points, grabbed five rebounds, blocked two shots, and got four steals. Beverley is a high energy guy that can contribute in multiple categories, and can surely be a difference-maker in any close matchup.

Brandon Knight – Knight returned back on the court with the Bucks this past weekend, and while his minutes are expected to be limited early, he’s a guy that you should keep on your watch-list  as he is slated to be the starting point guard for the Bucks.

Mario Chalmers -The starting point guard for the champs has quietly been a fantasy gem, contributing in steals, threes, and assists. One would think that playing with the “big 3” in South Beach would harm his production, but that hasn’t been the case thus far. His success this early is no fluke, so try to get him on you roster while you can.

Shooting Guards

Danny Green – The stating shooting guard hadn’t been playing quality basketball to start the season, but on Wednesday of last week he broke out his funk posting a line of 19 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals, and four blocks. He’s three-point shooting alone makes him a valuable pickup, but if he continues to contribute in multiple areas, he can end up a big steal.

Alec Burks – The young guard continues to be very productive off the bench for the Utah Jazz. So far this season he’s averaging 15 points, three rebounds, three assists, and around two steals. Not bad value at all for a guy at the bottom end of your fantasy roster.

Small Forwards

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist – The second-year forward proved to be a guy that can help any fantasy team last year, and the same can certainly be said about this season. His constant motor allows him to rebounds, get steals, and block shots.

Trevor Ariza – Ariza has been having a career year so far to start the 2013-2014 season. Playing alongside some decent talent in Washington has allowed him to flourish at that starting small forward position.

Corey Brewer – The Minnesota Timberwolves offense has been very efficient this season, and the role player on that roster that has benefited the most is Corey Brewer. Brewer has had three games so far this season where he’s had three or more steals.

Power Forwards

Markieff Morris – If Morris is a free agent in any of your fantasy leagues, pick him up now! This past week he earned player of the week honors after posting averages of 23 points, and eight rebounds on 70 percent shooting during the four games he played.

Nene – The veteran big man has been getting back into the swing of things after suffering a minor calf injury last weekend. When healthy, he’s a good source for points, rebounds, and field goal percentage.

Centers

Zaza Pachulia – With Larry Sanders sidelined for the next six weeks, Zaza is must-get for those needing a big man on their team. So far this season he’s been a solid contributor in points, rebounds, assists, and steals (some valued categories in center position).

Lakers Pick Up Of The Week

Steve Blake – With Steve Nash slated to miss the next two weeks, Blake is an excellent pick-up for anyone looking for some point guard depth on their roster. He’s easily been the best guard in the Lakers rotation, and his production should sky rocket with Nash out.
