Dwight Howard ‘Loyalty’ Shirt Available for Purchase

I know this isn’t directly Laker related, but this story is almost too ridiculous to be real. Anyways, I’m sure you’ve all heard of the Dwight Howard drama going on out in Orlando, and whether or not he will remain with the team long term or leave via free agency.

Now, there’s a Dwight Howard ‘Loyalty’ shirt available for purchase in the NBA Store. I guess that’s because Howard considers himself a loyal guy, which may be surprising since there have been numerous reports that he wants out of Orlando.

The Lakers have been one of the potential suitors for the big man, although late last season he announced that he wouldn’t sign an extension with Los Angeles if he was traded out west. The team is still reportedly interested in acquiring Howard if they can convince him to sign an extension, but like all the other trade rumors that is obviously still unsettled.

Regardless, the irony in this T-shirt is beyond amusing, especially if Howard does leave Orlando.

If the Lakers were to make a move for Howard it would be focused around Andrew Bynum, who the team extended for another season yesterday by picking up his $16.1 million option.

Bynum and Howard are considered the two best centers in the league, and two of the last true big men, but some of Bynum’s off-court antics have rubbed Laker fans the wrong way.

Thanks to Ananth Pandian from Dime Magazine for the heads up on the shirt.
