David Stern Compares Kobe Bryant to Michael Jordan

The Los Angeles Lakers dominated the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night and in that game Kobe Bryant scored his 30,000th career point, only the fifth player to ever do so. Bryant becomes the youngest player in league history to reach that milestone and it is yet another accomplishment in his amazing career.

In the Lakers’ game against the Hornets, NBA Commissioner David Stern was in attendance and he spoke about the legacy that Kobe Bryant will leave behind to the Los Angeles Daily News.

“I want to shake his hand. I think Kobe as a talent and a competitor, he’s up there on the pedestal with Michael Jordan as one of the greatest ever,” Stern said. “Kobe has had such an extraordinary run playing at the highest level for so long and the championships to prove it in a league that is extremely competitive.

“Kobe and the Lakers have been an important part of the league and I wish them well for this season and beyond.”

Kobe Bryant has been compared to Michael Jordan ever since he came into this league and there is no doubt Bryant is the closest thing we have ever seen to Jordan. Bryant currently has five championships under his belt and he is one away from tying Jordan, and there is a chance that Bryant ends up surpassing Jordan on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
