Mike D'AntoniThe NBA season starts in 15 days and the Los Angeles Lakers are making the final cuts to their roster. The team made many additions over the summer, but now it is time to figure out who’s actually going to suit up on Opening Night.

As of right now, the Lakers are in China for two exhibition games against the Golden State Warriors, with one to be held in Beijing and the other in Shanghai. Coach Mike D’Antoni spoke to the media during practice and talked about what mindset his new players have going into the trip.

“We have guys competing for jobs,” Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni said at practice Monday. “They’re trying to earn jobs. So it’s a hard time for these players but they’re doing well.”

Adding players that can make an immediate impact on the bench or the starting lineup is very important for this team, especially with the uncertainty surrounding Kobe Bryant. At this point it is unclear when Bryant will return so it is imperative that the front office adds players who can fill the void.

DJO and Landry are the next cuts IMO. They were from the get. Henry was also but he stepped up and possibly earned a spot so far… Landry has an outside shot over Henry still if he can get hot shooting in China. MDA likes Landry’s SF/PF versatility. Henry is strictly a SG/SF which is the position we are stacked at, with Kobe, Johnson and Young. That’s not counting Meeks and Blake who can fill in at SG.

From what we have seen from him so far it’s impossible for Landry to make the roster. . Even if he shows great stuff during the next game. so far he is a non factor. he is frigid and defensively he’s not reliable.

Henry showed good stuff during this pre saison. He showed D’antoni that he can hit threes today. eventhough he isn’t versatile he is a decent defender and he is the type of guy who can energize your offense. He runs the floor really well.

if D’antoni choose Landry over Henry, fans won’t understand it or actually they will… another “dumbtoni” choice.

I agree, especially after today. I was just speaking on what MDA has been saying all camp long.

johnson has no fire, and from the preseason, no shot; not even free throws. don’t get why he isn’t part of the next cut.

The word is that he was playing very well in camp (even Nash said so). I don’t know how the injury is progressing. Hopefully he’ll be able to play so he can be evaluated. He’s supposed to be a good defensive player. This team needs that. Of course, he’s got to have some offense also. I guess we’ll see.

Wes only played one game I’m preseason… He is long and athletic and is a good defensive player

i can’t see DJO or landry making the team. remember, henry is only 22.. landry will be 28 soon. henry’s upside is compelling, as is his performance in the preseason thus far. johnson will be fine, in my opinion. the next few games are key for him, but i think he has the potential to be the team’s starting SF.

    It’s officially “nut cutting time!”
