D’Angelo Russell On Lakers Workout: ‘An Honor To Be Here’

The Los Angeles Lakers are starting to bring in the big-name draft prospects in preparation for the 2015 NBA Draft a few weeks time. Emmanuel Mudiay was the first of the top prospects to work out with the team this past weekend and now Ohio State’s D’Angelo Russell showed what he can do on Monday afternoon.

After working for the Lakers at the team’s practice facility, the former Buckeye spoke with the media about the opportunity to show his skills in Los Angeles, via Lakers Twitter account:

With the Lakers in possession of the second overall pick, it doesn’t seem very likely they’ll pass on drafting one of the two top centers. Jahlil Okafor and Karl-Anthony Towns will be on the team’s radar heading into draft day later this month with Russell potentially getting some consideration.

There has been some talk of the Lakers potentially choosing Russell over Okafor. Towns continues to be the top prospect with draft day approaching, but Okafor and Russell might end up being neck-and-neck depending on how workouts go over the next few weeks.

Needless to say, it isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility that Russell ends up wearing purple and gold next season. Russell is arguably the best guard in the draft and there is value with the league being guard-driven these days.
