Andrew Bynum Declines Olympics to Get the Kobe Knee Procedure

By | April 20, 2012|

According to Mike Bresnahan of the LA Times, Andrew Bynum will skip the upcoming 2012 Olympics if asked by Team USA. Bynum plans to take care of his knees in the off-season with the same procedure that Kobe Bryant underwent and made famous last summer in Germany, which is known as Regenokine or Orthokine.

Kobe Bryant has been a big supporter of the procedure and has referred other athletes, such as Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees.

With Dwight Howard out for the remainder of the season and the Olympics, Team USA will have to look for another center to anchor the defense. With Lamar Odom no longer being considered as well, players such as Chris Bosh, Kevin Love and Tyson Chandler must be under consideration as all three players are the versatile big men that will help Team USA thrive in international competition.

Don’t worry fans! Kobe Bryant will still be representing the red, white and blue this summer.

Do you think that’s a good decision by Drew?

I think it’s smart for Drew. He’s still young and has plenty of time for the olympics. Get healthy big fella then make your mark!
