Los Angeles Laker memorabilia has always been popular, but only a few can say they are a Laker sneakerhead. If you are a Laker fan and a sneakerhead then here are some kicks you should have in your collection.
The ’80s was especailly memorable because of Showtime but it also provided many different shoes including Magic’s Converse Weapon, “Big Game” James Worthy’s New Balance and Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s L.A. Gear. Remember those Converse Weapon commericals with Magic and Larry Bird. Classic! One of my favorites was Michael Cooper’s Asics Gels. I wore these until the soles fell off. They were very comfortable.
More recently Kobe Bryant’s Nike Signature shoe , Zoom Kobe IV has been selling out worldwide. They were even featured numerous times during the 2008-09 NBA Finals. Derek Fisher’s Nike Air Uptempos is another personal favorite and when Nike decided to release the Laker color it was a dream come true for this Laker sneakerhead.
Here are our top picks for Laker inspired kicks from past and present players, in no particular order. Kobe Byrant takes up three spots in our list, but could have easily had one or two more of his shoes in make our list.
