A Glimpse at the New Blake-r

NBA: April 14, 2010: Los Angeles Clippers d Los Angeles Lakers 107-91. Clippers Steve Blake gets a shot blocked by Lakers Pau Gasol.

I believe he can deliver for the Lakers for the upcoming seasons. I also think he is more talented than Farmar. At age 30, Blake has gone through many teams. His talent started blossoming when he played for the Portland Trailblazers in 4 of his 7 seasons. His half season for the Los Angeles Clippers last year was also an impressive one where he averaged 43% behind the arc in only 29 games.

Ironically, Steve Blake notched in his first career triple double last season against the Los Angeles Lakers playing for the Los Angeles Clippers in a game where the Clips won. One reason why they won might be that someone with the name of Kobe Bryant didn’t play in the game.

Whether Blake starts or is a bench player, he will be a spark for the Lakers. The Lakers first concern is to re-sign Fisher for a pay-cut and add another shooting guard. I believe Fisher should come off the bench if he plays for the Lakers next season and Steve is placed in the starting line-up. Either way can work. Fish is getting a little old, and having him run the bench squad would be perfect with his leadership and voice.

The Lakers officially signed Steve Blake to a contract according to ESPN. This is the exact direction the Lakers should be heading. Getting a point guard who can bring his A game every night. Blake might not average much, but his impact and presence will make everyone around him better. More players will have looks and shots as Steve will bring a 3-point threat.

I’ve been watching Blake play basketball for several years now. Believe me Laker fans, he is a point guard that will get the job done. If Shannon were to return to the Lakers, be sure to look out for some sick alley-oop dunks ladies and gentlemen.

I think Blake will fit in just fine with D. Fish back on track. If we get Raja, that adds to the defensive end.
