What do you see in a true point guard player? The one guard position has been a problem for the Lakers for the past few years. Other than Fisher, LA has had players like Smush Parker, Chucky Atkins, and even Jordan Farmar who haven’t proven they can be consistent for the team. In my opinion, a true point guard should be a pass first and be able to knock down the long range shots when needed. Fisher has had his clutch moments knocking down shots, but the Lakers are lacking the much needed passing ability. Steve Blake will fill that much needed role for the Los Angeles Lakers. Here’s a glimpse of what is yet to come from the former Maryland point guard:
- Steve can knock down the 3. He works well with the inside outside game. Once he gets a spot up shot, he’ll take it. Blake has shot an average of 39% from downtown, but his recent years in Portland and Clippers he’s been averaging a near 41%. Pretty solid shooter for a seven year veteran.
- Blake is able to also push the ball up court fast. He’ll either take it to the hoop strong or pass it to the open man. He has wonderful court vision.
- He’s a great person overall. Loves his game and loves his family. Watch the video below and you’ll see how much his dedication shows.
