2014 NBA Draft: Lakers Meet With Duke’s Rodney Hood At Draft Combine

The Lakers won’t know where they pick until the NBA Draft Lottery takes place next week. With the team most likely to be either the sixth or seventh pick, it is possible they won’t be able to select one of the premier prospects such as Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins.

One person who could be in play at that position is Duke forward, Rodney Hood. With everyone in Chicago for the NBA’s Pre-Draft Combine, the Lakers met with the forward yesterday according to Basketball Insiders’ Alex Kennedy:

Hood has prototypical size for a small forward and is one of the best shooters in the NBA Draft. He would fit in seamlessly with the Lakers as someone who could bring athleticism and shooting.

With the status of a number of wing players including Nick Young, Xavier Henry, Jodie Meeks, and Kent Bazemore being a question mark right now, Hood could fill a big role off the bench or eventually slide in as a starter.

There are still a number of things to happen before the Lakers are on the clock and have to make their selection. With basically a blank slate of a roster, they could go a number of ways in the draft.

Rodney Hood is a pretty good player he has a good attitude for winning and he seems like he would a great fit on the lakers he can shoot and he can play some D but im not sure lakers have him on their big board but we will see what happens

  • cyborgspider

They’re meeting a lot of prospects… it’s the Combine after all.

TRASH!Next level he will be a Meddling player…

  • LegendInMyMind

I just hope they avoid picking Marcus Smart. LA is not kind to head cases.

    • Jonah

Marcus Smart is not a head case at all.You are making a blanket statement. Please refrain from judging someone based on no prior knowledge of the man you are talking about. If you are solely basing this on the Texas Tech fan incident then you are sadly mistaken calling Marcus Smart a head case based on that.

The fan is a known racist that has a confrontational personality and he uses natural troublesome mannerisms.Marcus Smart is a great kid and a winner that loves playing hard for his team and he is a leader that puts his life on the line for his team.Marcus is not a troublemaker nor is he a head case,he plays hard and has the best motor i have seen in the NCAA in 2014.You will be sorry you ever called Marcus Smart a head case.

It’s not just that, it’s the way he sinks in the spotlight. He does well, not as well as he should. He has all the makings of a draft bust, just by the fact that he appears to be a natural underachiever.

Legend is right that fool can’t carry a team idiot!

    • Joseph Apohen

Didn’t he not chase after a fan? This is L.A., not Detroit.

    • 24onmyshirt

haha Bynum…Artest…..Rodman….LA doesnt care if you are a head case its about winning

      • LegendInMyMind

True, but Marcus Smart isn’t. I don’t give a shit if he’s crazy as long as it doesn’t cause him to shrink in big moments, which it does.

Bring in Shabazz Napier, bring in Ollie as head coach, convince pau to stay…#thingsthatshouldbutwontbedone

    • Joseph Apohen
