With the University of Connecticut being crowned national champions last week after beating the University of Kentucky, the best players in college basketball are starting to let it be known that they’re making the jump to the NBA.

Arizona’s Aaron Gordon became the latest player to enter the 2014 NBA Draft announcing he’s leaving school after his freshman year on Monday according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports:

University of Arizona freshman forward Aaron Gordon will announce this week he’s entering the 2014 NBA draft, source told Yahoo Sports.

Gordon made a name for himself in his freshman year with Arizona helping lead the Wildcats into the NCAA Tournament as the number one seed in the West Region.

Unfortunately, Arizona was beaten by the Wisconsin in the Elite Eight and now they’ll be losing arguably their best player to the NBA. Gordon averaged 12.4 points and 8.0 rebounds per game last season and is expected to be a lottery pick in the upcoming 2014 NBA Draft.

Along with Gordon, there’s been quite few players that have declared for the draft. Kansas’ Andrew Wiggins is arguably the biggest name to announce his intentions to enter the draft along with teammate Joel Embiid.

Australian phenom Dante Exum will also enter the draft and could be on a short list of players the Lakers will target. Gordon is currently expected to be selected by the Lakers with the sixth overall pick in the latest mock draft by MyNBADraft.com.

Duke’s Jabari Parker and Kentucky’s Julius Randle are the only two big-name players yet to announce their intentions. Parker is expected to announce if he’ll be leaving school later this week.
