In 2005, The Lakers traded away Caron Butler and Chucky Atkins for the number one overall draft pick of the 2001 draft named Kwame Brown and Laron Profit. By the time we received Brown, he was already a draft bust.
Brown statistically is one of the worst starters the Lakers has ever had. During his tenure with the L.A., the forward/center averaged 6.1 points and 6.3 rebounds as a starter.
But Kwame Brown is the reason we even have Pau Gasol (that and the fact they received the draft rights to younger brother Marc Gasol in return).
